The Inpatient Learning Disability Services are part of the Forensic & Specialist Directorate and specialises in the assessment and intervention of people who have a learning disability/mental illness, or who are autistic and have committed offenses requiring inpatient care.  

The service provides 33 inpatient beds across 2 units (Tarentfort and Brookfield), where Occupational Therapy plays a key role and the successful applicant will work across both services.

The successful candidate will work as a member of the dynamic multi-professional team of specialists who provide a diverse range of activities including health promotion, sport, education, vocational pathways, etc. 

 

This post would suit someone who has experience of working with people with learning disabilities, with people who are on the Autistic Spectrum, those who have mental health problems, or someone who has worked with patients who present challenges to the service. 

 

What is High Cost Area Allowance?

 The High-Cost Area (HCA) allowance, also referred to as London Weighting is a payment made to employees who work in London and the surrounding areas.

As this post is based in Dartford, Gravesham or Swanley, the successful applicant will receive an additional payment each month.

·       5% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £1,192 per year and a maximum payment of £2,011 per year (the agreed annual amount will be divided into 12 equal amounts and paid monthly)

To assist in identifying, developing and providing the Occupational Therapy contribution within the multi-disciplinary service in accordance with the needs of service users and the requirements of the service.

To assess, plan, deliver and evaluate therapeutic interventions for identified service users.

To manage a defined caseload of service users with occupational needs using evidence based, service user centred, hope and recovery, health promotion and relapse prevention orientated principles and practice.

To attend relevant MDT and patient focused meetings, write up notes, assessments and OT reports. 

To support students and supervise junior staff in line with having the relevant experience to do so.
