The Community Rehabilitation Service operates in three localities across East Kent. The service is designed to meet the needs of individuals with complex mental health problems. Intensive rehabilitation and recovery focussed support is provided in the individual’s own home to help them participate in everyday activities important to them, and aims to prevent relapse. In addition to working in individual’s own homes he team work in close partnership with Social Care and Housing to provide the healthcare element to Horizons supported accommodation in each locality.  Horizons offers assured short term tenancies for up to two years for individuals with complex mental health problems and staff are based on-site.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join the South Kent Coast team based in Folkestone. The post involves lone working, and includes 1 to 1 and specific group-work to provide individualised programmes of care to support clients to develop and enhance their skills and independent and promote recovery. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with partner organisations, to advocate for clients and to promote a collaborative and recovery orientated focus throughout. This post involves flexible hours of work between 08:00 and 20:00 according to the needs of the service, this will include some, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

To assist in identifying, developing and providing the Occupational Therapy contribution within the multi-disciplinary service in accordance with the needs of service users and the requirements of the service.

To assess, plan, deliver and evaluate therapeutic interventions for identified service users.

To manage a defined caseload of service users with occupational needs using evidence based, service user centred, hope and recovery, health promotion and relapse prevention orientated principles and practice.

Experience

  • Experience of (either through previous employment or student placements) of working with individuals and groups.
  • Experience of applying the OT process

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply national policies and procedures including but not limited to confidentiality, consent, risk management, service user involvement.
  • Knowledge in the application of relevant OT theoretical models, and approaches relevant to service user group
  • Basic factual knowledge of the importance of enabling people to do the things they want, need or are expected to do to support them in being well in life.
