We are recruiting for a CT Radiographer who share our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

Main duties of the job

Our imaging department has proudly held Quality Standards for Imaging (QSI)  accreditation since 2012 which is used as a benchmark for providing good quality service. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain and contribute to these high standards in their Radiography skills, patient care and personal development.

As a CT Radiographer, you will ensure that you work under your own initiative but is vital you can work well within a team too. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient service for patients. You will also be responsible for the training of junior staff and students.

The role will require the post holder to carry out shifts to enable us to provide a 24 hour, 7 day service to a high standard inclusive of night shifts.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To ascertain patient identity in line with patient ID policy prior to exposure

To ensure that Images are presented for reporting in a timely and accurate manner

To be flexible with regard to the rota system, to work the hours required by the department

Participation in the provision of a 24 hour service

To have knowledge of and implement all departmental and Patient Charter Standards

To provide for GP’s, Outpatients, Inpatients and the A&E department for CT scanning

To participate in alerting reporting radiologist to urgent findings

Participate in the trust development review process (appraisal)

Maintain a high standard of radiographic technique

Take an active role in the department’s clinical governance and quality assurance programme

Ensure that health and safety and radiation protection legislation is complied with

Identify personal training and career development needs 

Person specification

Qualification

Essential criteria
  • A Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or recognised equivalent
  • Registered with the Statutory Board of the Health Professions Council
  • Post graduate CT qualifications

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Radiation Protection awareness
  • Abnormality / pathology recognition
  • Awareness of new developments in CT

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 18 months post graduate experience
  • Evidence of CPD
  • 12 months CT experience

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Teaching of the rostered students is essential
  • Competent in IV cannulation (or willing to undergo training)
  • Able to work within a fast-paced, dynamic environment
