The aim of the role is for the clinical practice education midwife, being a midwife with significant experience, to share their invaluable expertise, knowledge and skills to support less experienced colleagues starting out in their midwifery career.

It is recognised that the preceptorship is a challenging year, and the legacy midwife would provide guidance and clinical support to preceptees. The role would also provide support to return to practice midwives, newly qualified post registration nurse/midwives, international recruits and those requiring a greater level of support.

The successful candidate would be employed as a Band 7 Clinical Practice Education Midwife and will be required to work flexibly within the maternity unit to accommodate preceptee shift patterns and promote a varied learning environment.

This would suit a midwife seeking a period following a considerable midwifery career, who is keen to supervise, support and hand over career insights to students and colleagues.

The role would support the retention of newly qualified midwives, helping to boost the midwifery workforce in Kent.

This is an exciting opportunity to inspire the next generation of midwives in Kent and Medway.
