Senior Clinical Pharmacy Technician

Division: Cancer and Core Clinical Services

Salary: £29,970 - £36,483 per annum/pro rata

We are recruiting for a Senior Clinical Pharmacy Technician who share our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and have the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

We are currently looking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic pharmacy technician to join our clinical pharmacy team. The post includes the provision of clinical ward based services, .

This is an exciting opportunity for a Technician to join our dynamic, innovative and friendly team dedicated to  working at ward level providing ward based clinical pharmacy services . We are looking for someone with experience or someone looking to progress to a senior level. Who has a passion in clinical hospital pharmacy. You must be an enthusiastic, motivated and a patient orientated technician dedicated to patient safety. 

The post holder will be educated to NVQ level 3 in pharmacy services, BTEC (or equivalent) in pharmaceutical sciences  and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council is essential.

Swydd ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

The post holder will work at providing a clinical service on the wards and deliver quality care to patients at ward level through efficient medicines optimisation.

This will include the assessment of patient’s own drugs, medicine reconciliation, and discharge planning, counselling patients about their medicines and coordinating the supply of discharge medication to ensure patient flow throughout the hospital.

The post holders will work with the clinical pharmacy team to continually develop the service, while maintaining high standards and achieving best practice to meet the needs of patients and the Trust.

The role will involve being a Practice/Educational supervisor, Line management and leadership and will also involve taking responsibility for a defined area of service delivery.

The role will also involve dispensary based responsibilities which will involve working as an accredited checking Technician.

  • NVQ 3 in pharmacy services or equivalent
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical technical procedures acquired though training, NVQ3, BTEC in pharmaceutical science or equivalent level

Experience

  • Hospital based post qualification experience
  • Management and leadership experience
  • Experience of training and mentoring staff

  • Has proven ability to achieve results and good communication
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to negotiate.

  • Ability to train less experienced staff and students
