We are recruiting for General Porters who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
Main duties of the job
To convey patients by wheelchair, bed, trolley, etc, between wards and departments on the hospital site and ensure the means of transportation is in a safe, working order and to report any defects in line with current procedures.
Please note the successful post holder should ideally have a full UK Driving Licence.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To deliver and collect clinical & non clinical items, including post, beds, trolleys, wheelchairs, medical gases, pathology specimens, laundry, waste, furniture; responding to any ad-hoc requests and ensuring procedures are followed.
To convey deceased patients to the mortuary and to do so in a dignified manner, using the appropriate equipment, also on request to place deceased patients within the viewing room (this will include viewings for babies, and young children) in accordance with procedures, and return to storage area on request. They are the first point of contact for the undertakers out of hours.
To work to the roster prepared by the Portering Manager covering 24 hours a day, 7 days per week including bank holidays.
To undertake job tasks via the handheld Trust system in a timely and efficient manner.

- NVQ Level 2 Support Services or good level of general education & equivalent level of working experience
Knowledge
