We are recruiting for a Assistant Sleep Practitioner who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
Main duties of the job
We have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic person with a background in respiratory and sleep to join our friendly and supportive team.
You will be carrying out Sleep Studies on a range of in and out patients of all ages and support the Sleep Physiologist leading the overnight polysomnography tests.
You will learn basic sleep fundamentals such as treatment for sleep apnoea, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). You will be a requirement to answer patients queries around issues with CPAP treatment and sending consumables to patients who require replacements.
A cheerful and pleasant personality is essential, as is experience of working in a hospital or other clinical setting performing.
You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work unsupervised and be flexible with your hours if required. This is a very busy position and a good level of fitness is essential. Knowledge of hospital IT systems is an advantage. Full training will be given with support.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To perform with training a range of basic, but non-routine sleep investigations, contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnoea patients.
This will include the initiation and downloading data from sleep studies devices.
Issuing and explaining the connection of sleep studies to patients.
To be responsible for the accurate entry of patient records and reports on to the department database.
Arranging replacement consumables for CPAP patients.
Performing weekly stock checks for CPAP and sleep consumables.
To support the sleep physiologist on leading the overnight polysomnography tests which includes hook up and monitoring of the patient. This test is performed in hospital overnight and therefore night shifts are required for this post.
To understand and assist with department audit, technical evaluation and research projects as required.
To assist the senior staff with the implementation of new policies and procedures as required.
To assist the senior staff with monitoring and ordering of departmental supplies.
To assist in the achievement of quality projects.
To participate in individual performance review.
To complete mandatory training.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Applicants will ideally have GCSE or equivalent including English, Maths and a Science subject or equivalent
- IT Qualifications
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Basic understaning of respirarory and sleep conditions and tests
- Knowledge of hospital IT systems
Experience
Essential criteria
- Working with people preferably in a clinical environment
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent organisation skills and abikity to manage and prioritise own workload
- IT skills, proficient in Microsoft products such us Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
