We are recruiting for a Dietitian who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
Main duties of the job
The dietetic team sits within a wider therapy team, including physiotherapy and occupational therapy staff. The dietetic team has 14 dietitians, 4 dietetic assistants and 1 dietetic apprentice. The dietetic team is divided into sub-teams depending on speciality and paediatrics is also part of the acute service. Band 5 Dietitians have the opportunity to participate in rotational training between acute medicine / frailty, general medicine / gastroenterology / oncology, surgical / critical care and paediatrics.
The post holder will undertake rotation supervision, learning about different medical and surgical conditions to enhance learning. Other responsibilities may include attending and actively contributing at MDT meetings and board rounds to discuss patient cases.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To provide timely dietetic care to patients, working effectively as part of the Acute Dietetic Team.
The post-holder will undertake 4-monthly rotations, specilaising in surgery / critical care, gastroenterology / general medicine / oncology, acute medicine and frailty and paediatrics.
To provide a 7 day and extended hours working pattern.
To work as part of an Acute Dietetic Team undertaking assessment of patients including those with a variety of presentations and conditions; using clinical reasoning skills and assessment techniques to formulate individualised treatment plans and programmes.
To deliver individualised dietetic treatment programmes using a broad range of skills in individual and group settings.
To continually reassess patient progress, adapting treatment plans accordingly, and developing discharge plans under the supervision of more senior dietitians.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Diploma/degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
- Current Health Professions Council registration
- Member of British Dietetic Association
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Competency in nutritional assessment of patients
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the issues involved with working in a busy acute setting
- Understanding of clinical governance and relevant national guidelines, applying these to the job role where applicable
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of significant acute hospital-based placements during training and / or post-graduation
- Broad range of under-graduate clinical placements
- Experience of responding to demand / prioritising work in a ward setting
- Experience of managing an allocated caseload and delegating to assistants in a ward based setting
