We are recruiting for a Specialty Doctor in ENT who share our ambition and vision to deliver the  Best of Care by the Best People  and have the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

Main duties of the job

The breast surgery unit has a strong team spirit and is working towards a joint waiting list for outpatient referrals and operating list. The breast unit sees more than 6000 new referrals per year. There are 9 one-stop clinics with full radiology cover per week. The Breast unit is actively involved in research and national trials. Medway Maritime Hospital hosts Medway Breast Screening Unit with screening population of 110000 women. 150 screen detected cancers are treated per year.

 

The unit provides comprehensive Breast services treating benign and malignant conditions (screen-detected and symptomatic).The unit provides full range of oncoplastic procedures and breast reconstruction using implant-based or lattismus dorsi flaps on site. Breast reconstruction using microsurgery techniques are carried out by plastic surgeons at Queen Victoria hospital, East Grinstead. The unit works closely with the plastic surgeons at Queen Victoria Hospital. There is a plastic surgeon attended clinic on site once a week.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Contribute to the breast MDT and play an active part in the further modernisation and development of the service.
  • Play a major role in maintaining the 28 day, 31 and 62 days targets for cancer patients and ensuring that other targets are met.
  • Assessment, care and treatment of patients presenting to the breast service.
  • Provision of clinical leadership in the delivery of a high quality breast service.
  • Providing teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate level. A role in the teaching of medical students is expected.
  • Participate in relevant audit and quality assurance processes, including reviews of manpower requirements.
  • Be involved in research
  • Abide by the clinical and corporate governance policies of the trust.

·        The successful applicant will be expected to participate fully in the annual job planning review to be eligible for pay progression. Support and Mentoring will be provided by the clinical supervisor

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council and a valid licence to practise
  • Full MRCP or working towards completion
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training, at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty, or have equivalent experience.
