Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This role will be to facilitate the smooth running of this maternity service and successful applicant will be involved in service improvement.
Ensuring all equipment checking and ‘I am clean stickers’ are visible at the start of shifts.
Equipment cupboard must be accessible to staff, tidy and floors clean and litter free.
Ensure daily checks of all relevant items, blood trackers, urinalysis monitors, Blood monitoring equipment with evidence.
To prioritise stock availability, report to manager for ordering to comply with patient safety and clinical governance requirements.
Ensure there is an effective, robust communication system between the non –clinical role and Clinical Support Worker team members.
You would be responsible for ensuring that effective delegation of your role requirements are completed during your absence for Study
requirements, Annual leave, and sickness hours.
Weekly fire checking log.
Monthly stock check for end dates with evidence.
Monthly medications check for end dates with evidence.
Ensure patient records are accurately maintained on PAS and relevant systems in the event you are covering in the short term.
Reporting of faulty equipment to EME department – ensuring evidence of same.
Reporting of delivery suite issues to Estates department – ensuring evidence of same.
Responsible for time change requirements when clocks change twice yearly.
Stock cupboards on delivery suite and end of Pearl ward must be kept tidy with clear floors at all times.
Responsible for staff changing areas – clear, clean and tidy at all times.
Daily check that dirty scrubs have been collected.
Cleaning of delivery rooms as and when required.
Ward clerk cover may also be required for admissions and discharges in the event that the unit has no cover available

Essential criteria
- Computer systems (Basic)
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- English & Maths Level 2 or above
Desirable criteria
- NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate experience in managing stock, procurement to ensure a safe service is provided
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience preferable within a health care setting
Skills
Essential criteria
- Has the ability to adapt to challenging and changing situations / demands and able to support colleagues
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across maternity while liaising with different levels of personnel
