Job overview

We have an opportunity for a skilled and motivated Referral Unit Advisor to join our Urgent Care Team.

Working in an administrative capacity you will work in the Referral Unit within the east Kent locality taking calls and emails from Acute Trusts, GPs and patients in the community. The role will be to process the referral and refer to the relevant team in a timely manner focusing on the patient experience.

Patient engagement and quality of administration are paramount in this role. Patients are at the heart of what we want all of our team to share in that ethos.

Main duties of the job

The referral unit runs 7 days a week.

The hours for this role will be 5 x 7.5 hours a day over a 7day period.

These hours will be between 08:00 & 22:00hrs, Monday to Sunday (including all bank holidays) with 1 weekend in 4 and 1 late shift a week.

The rota is produced 3 months in advance so you will have plenty of notice for your shifts. 

Although this is a predominantly home based role you will be required to come to our Ashford based office for regular team meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria
  • •\t5 x GCSE’s including Maths and English (A-C or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
  • •\tBusiness Administration/ Customer Service NVQ level 3

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • •\tProven experience in office systems, with use of Microsoft Office, i.e. MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel. •\tSound judgement and logical approach to complex situations, with ability to determine solutions. •\tCustomer Service background
Desirable criteria
  • •\tNHS specific IT system experience •\tUnderstanding of NHS Community Services

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

Essential criteria
  • •\tConfidence in call handling
Desirable criteria
  • •\tKnowledge of clinical terminology

PRACTICAL/ INTELLECTUAL SKILLS

Essential criteria
