Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications, Business and Design Manager.  This is a key role in our very busy Communications Team working on all aspects of internal and external communications through a range of channels.

Our team works in a fast-paced environment and has responsibility for (but not limited to) Management of the trust’s intranet, website, all-staff digital and print publications, external digital and print publications, events, films, photography, external quarterly magazine, graphic design, media inquiries, media monitoring, campaigns and the trust’s reputation.

Main duties of the job

As a Communications, Business and Design Manager you will provide comprehensive business assistance to the Communication Team and provide executive support in a range of duties to the director and Senior Management Team.

You will work with the Communications Team to manage and deliver the patient information programme including writing and publishing patient information.

In addition,  you will be responsible for leading, managing, co-ordinating and delivering projects and events the development of the communications and team’s business strategies.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Education to degree level standard or equivalent experience, with supporting evidence of qualification in relevant area. Marketing or public relations qualification, such as CIM or CIPR, or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
  • European Computer Driving Licence. NVQ 3 or equivalent relevant to post.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of producing communications in a range of formats. Experience of working with volunteers. Ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access to a competent level. Internet and email experience. Budgetary management. Experience of supporting senior management. Experience of project management. Experience of delivering on the quality agenda through involvement in governance frameworks, audits, benchmarks and other quality initiatives.
Desirable criteria
  • Public Sector/NHS Service background. Experience and evidence of working with a wide range of partners.

Knowledge, skills and aptitude

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of both local and national agendas regarding health. Excellent interpersonal skills; able to communicate clearly at all levels both within and across all the directorates in KCHT and with external partners. Excellent, written, email and presentation skills Advanced level of competency across a range of IT packages. Ability to multi-task in a pressured work environment. Able to deal with complex, difficult and sensitive situations.

  • High standard of presentation and accuracy. High levels of diplomacy and discretion. Able to deal with difficult situations e.g. persistent phone callers/angry and distressed persons.
