We have an exciting opportunity to join our team for 12 months to step into this key role while the current post holder is on career break and maintain our outstanding Pharmacy Training programme across our Pharmacy departments.

We are anticipating to start the successful applicant towards September 2024.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician with excellent interpersonal skills who is a recognised Educational Supervisor or qualified Practice Supervisor with significant experience in delivering training. A Certificate in education or equivalent is also an advantage but not essential. 

We know that excellent training is vital to providing excellent services and having a highly motivated and committed team. This post plays a key role in maintaining and developing our training programme to meet GPhC standards and ensure our departments continually develop to inspire our staff.

 The post holder is the Pharmacy Education Director (EPD) for the training of pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians and training programme within the Trust. Another key role is the development and co-ordination of training for Pharmacy Assistants and ongoing training and development of our registered Pharmacy Technicians.

You will also joint lead the Pharmacy Local Faculty Group, co-ordinate meetings and our Pharmacy E&T newsletter. The post holder is the line manager for four pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Pharmacist with GPhC
  • BTec in Pharmaceutical Science and/or NVQ Pharmacy Services Level 3
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians (UK)
  • Regional train the trainers accreditation
  • Final Accuracy Checking accreditation
  • Reconciliation (formerly Medicines Management) or equivalent relevant experience
  • Practice Supervisor or Educational Supervisor accreditation
  • NVQ Internal Verifier award or equivalent
  • NVQ A1 workplace assessor award or equivalent
  • Teacher/training qualification i.e. certificate in education or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience in delivering pharmacy training
  • Previous experience within a senior pharmacy technician role/Management experience
  • Experience in the development and implementation of work based training/ SOPS across a variety of tasks
  • Experience of conducting staff appraisals & sickness Absence management
  • Specialist knowledge of NVQ assessment, internal verification Specialist knowledge of NVQ assessment, internal verification
  • Knowledge of the GPhC professional standards and registration requirements for PTs
  • Knowledge of post registration training opportunities and requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of the apprenticeship programmes for pharmacy
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of successful audit work
  • Working in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Experience of submitting/collating Quality Manual evidence
  • Experience of e-portfolio management
  • Trust organisational structures as regards care groups, directorates and specialities.
  • Proven knowledge of the legal framework behind implementation of PGDs
