The Mental Health of Learning Disability Service, based in 2 hubs across Kent and Medway, is looking to recruit an Operational Team Lead to assist in the day-to-day running of the service. The post holder will, alongside one other experienced Operational Team Lead, be responsible for ensuring a safe, effective and high-quality service is delivered to patients with a learning disability and mental health needs, including behaviours that challenge, that cannot be met within mainstream mental health services, across Kent and Medway.
You will provide operational management to a group of clinical staff, providing supervision, appraisal and supporting those staff to reach their potential and have a lead role in the recruitment and retention of staff.
You will need to have an understanding of how team performance impacts the provision of a safe and high-quality service and be able to implement and monitor processes to ensure this.

The purpose of the job is to provide operational management, leadership and expertise to a multi-professional specialist MHLD team who often work alone to ensure timely delivery of a safe and effective service to the locality for people aged 18 and over with a Learning Disability who are experiencing significant mental health difficulties.
Duties will include:
- Managing staff in accordance with Trust objectives and standards.
- Monitoring, evaluating and auditing the performance and clinical practice of your team.
- Liaising and working collaboratively with other Directorates to promote and enhance patient experience and recovery.
- Working closely with the local authority, Community Learning Disability Team and other statutory and non-statutory agencies.
- Supporting the MHLD Service Manager to embed the quality strategy defined by the Directorate, ensuring systems are in place to deliver the expectation of high performance and quality patient outcomes. This includes Triangle of care to enhance carer support and delivering assurance of high-performing teams through consistent review of clinical caseloads, BI reports, performance reports and scrutiny of the quality of RIO documentation.
- Being responsible for a small clinical complex caseload. You will attend complex professional meetings and Best Interest meetings.

Qualifications

- Registered healthcare professional (RNLD/RMN ,HCPC)
- Teaching and assessing qualification
- Leadership CPD to diploma standard

- Further specialist training in mental health of learning disabilities
Experience

- Minimum of 2 years post registered of working at Band 6
- Experience of managing a complex caseload within a community setting
- Leadership experience and skill of managing a multi-disciplinary team
- Change management experience

Knowledge

- In-depth knowledge of the Care Programme Approach (CPA)
- Sound knowledge of legislation relevant to area of practice, eg Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act

- Knowledge of Safeguarding policies & procedures
