Junior Sister/Charge Nurse - Endoscopy

Job overview

We currently have three endoscopy rooms; we undertake approximately 9000 procedures a year which include upper and lower GI Endoscopy, ERCP’s, EBUS and Bronchoscopy. We have JAG accreditation and take part in the national bowel cancer screening programme.  

You will work with the endoscopy team to provide safe, effective and high quality patient care maintaining standards that meet the requirements of JAG, the GRS and the CQC.

You will be taking part in the newly formed Kent and Medway accademic Hub.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team, whilst utilising your clinical expertise to provide holistic patient centred care. You will be expected to focus on clinical leadership, actively supporting the Unit Manager in further developing the service and delivering a high standard of patient focused care.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential as is a relevant teaching qualification or working towards.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics.  The programme is full-time (please email [email protected] if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at Enhanced Level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)

Desirable criteria
  • Advanced life support
  • Evidence of Continuing Education - diploma/degree level

Experience/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience in acute hospital setting
  • Experience in endoscopy setting
  • IV Drugs therapy and IV cannulation & Venepuncture
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge & Experience of EBUS, Bronchoscopy & FNA
  • Knowledge and experience of EMR,& ERCP

  • Evidence of insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and GRS
