An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced support worker to join our dedicated Gynaecological Out Patient Department at Maidstone Hospital.

This is a busy department, with a varied and wide array of clinics which also offering the opportunity to be involved in supporting and assisting clinical staff in our 2 dedicated minor procedures suites.

Occasional weekend working and cross site cover  may be required.

Main duties of the job

The role exists to provide a multi-skilled worker who supports the Gynaecological outpatients department with clinical and non-clinical practices in order to provide patient-centred care. After appropriate training has been given, the post-holder will undertake a range of delegated duties without direct supervision from a clinician. The post-holder will be involved in the development of other Healthcare Assistants and will be responsible for their own personal and professional development.

Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions. 

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s Clinical Induction Programme for Clinical Support Workers (which starts on the first day of employment). The programme is full-time (please contact the CSW Induction Programme Lead if this is going to be problematic: [email protected]), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes 2 supernumerary shifts in the clinical area (an early and a late shift), all of the other days are classroom-based and run from 9am to 5pm

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Level 3 in "Health" or "Health and Social Care" or equivalent
  • Level 2 Qualification in “Health” or “Health and Social Care”

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working as a Healthcare Professional in a gynaecological environment.
  • Can compare basic test results to normal values.
  • Able to recognise and report trends.
  • Ability to work at speed
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience working in Hysteroscopy/ Colposcopy clinics

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Numerate and literate, with fluent English.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Mature approach to gynaecological issues when dealing with patients.
  • Ability to co-ordinate a number of activities which may require the adjustment of plans.
  • Ability/ willingness to work across site if required.
Desirable criteria
  • 12 lead ECG’s
  • Phlebotomy
