Job overview

We are looking for dynamic and motivated individuals to join our Physiotherapy team as a Senior Physiotherapy Assistant.

Main duties of the job

You will help deliver physiotherapy to the Acute Physiotherapy services which includes Respiratory, Medical, T&O, Neurology and Oncology.  This post is currently based in the Medical Rehabiliation  team but you may be asked to move to any of the listed teams .  You will be working within a friendly team where career development and teaching are actively encouraged. You will be supervised by Senior Physiotherapists. The department offers a supportive working environment which actively supports Continuing Professional Development, through an established appraisal system, in-service training, and post graduate library facilities.

You must have experience at Band 3 or Band 4 level within the acute NHS environment.   Duties will also include a small amount of clerical and departmental housekeeping. You will have a clinical case load.

You will be shortlisted if you adequately meet the Band 4 Job specification attached.  Developmental posts may be offered post interview if it is felt this is required based on your answers at interview

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or be willing to complete it or equivalent qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience as an AHP Support Worker Band 3 (or equivalent)
  • Evidence of achieving the competencies of Band 3 AHP Therapy Tech

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Completed the core and specialist competencies of the Directorate’s Tech Training Programme or similar competencies
  • Additional practical and theoretical knowledge of patient conditions and treatment within relevant specialty.(This knowledge will be demonstrated through the attendance at work based/ non work based learning and development activities
  • Can demonstrate understanding and awareness of the Senior Physiotherapy Assistant role

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Good communicator - verbally and written - with patients and others
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as within a multidisciplinary team
  • Basic IT skills
Desirable criteria
  • IT skills (advanced)
