Workforce Programme Lead

Job overview

As Programme Manager for Workforce the post holder will lead an exciting programme which aligns the workforce planning contained in the NHS Long Term Plan with that of the Cancer Alliance, the outcome of which will be a clear vision of our approach to the cancer workforce in Kent & Medway and a plan to translate this into reality.

You'll lead and support delivery of the project plans and key milestones identified. Key functions of the post are:

• Programme and project management
• Communications, stakeholder engagement and relationship management
• Patient and public involvement
• Change management and improvement science

This role will ensure delivery of all areas of the Workforce programme, and support the delivery of the Kent & Medway Cancer Alliance wider programme of work.

You'll represent Kent & Medway Cancer Alliance nationally and locally to build relationships, develop knowledge and implement change and transformation to develop and deliver all the elements of the Workforce programme in Kent & Medway

Main duties of the job

This role will require you to lead on delivery and programme support for the Aspirant Cancer Career and Education Development programme (ASCEND) Programme within and across Kent & Medway

You'll also work closely with Workforce colleagues within the National and Regional Cancer & Diagnostics Programme, develop funding opportunities and identify priority investment areas.

Expected to demonstrate a commitment to improving quality and have a track record in using evidence to drive improvement.
The ability to motivate and influence individuals and teams that operate across organisational boundaries is a requirement of this role.

The successful candidate will also have excellent leadership, engagement, and interpersonal skills

  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.

Experience

  • Experience of identifying and interpreting National policy.
  • Experience of researching best practice (globally, private and public sector), interpreting its relevance and processes/ practices which could be implemented successfully to achieve system reform (advising on policy implementation)
  • Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health, NHS England/Improvements and individual provider and commissioning organisations
