Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Ambulatory Emergency Care Specialist Nurse to join our team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable nurse to lead on the Ambulatory Emergency Care service at both Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospitals.

As the Lead Nurse in AEC, you will use your clinical experience, expertise and advanced skills to support the development of enhanced clinical competencies ensuring appropriate training, support and oversight to maintain a clinically competent workforce.

You will work closely with all relevant clinical teams, providing clinical advice, supervision, mentorship and work-based facilitation. Develop and complete audits as required. Working closely with users of our services and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate and timely service development and improvements to patient care.

Your core working days will be Monday - Friday with notice provided for any weekend work and out-of-hours work if this is required to meet the need of a clinical team.

Main duties of the job

You will work as an autonomous practitioner, liaising with all members of the Multidisciplinary team in order to provide clinical expertise, increase utilisation and performance through AEC on both hospital sites.

You will make clinical judgement about patients and adjust treatment plans accordingly in order to achieve treatment targets.

You will act as a mentor/preceptor/assessor to nursing staff and support workers as appropriate, ensuring a positive learning environment and facilitating their clinical skill development.

All successful applicants will be required to complete our corporate trust induction once a start date had been agreed.

Following your corporate induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email [email protected]t if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
