IV Infusion Nurse

NHS AfC: Band 5

Job overview

We are currently seeking a highly motivated nurse to join our nurse led unit as an IV infusions Nurse at Viking Day Unit, QEQM Hospital, Margate. This is a 12 month fixed term Maternity Cover post.

Viking Day Unit is a warm and welcoming unit within the base of the QEQM Hospital.  The Viking Day Unit team is relatively small, but this job gives the opportunity to work closely with many different roles within the multidisciplinary team, and form close working relationships, all pulling together to get the best for our patient group.  We provide full in-house training, both practical, in the form of nurse educators, and mentors, but also theoretical, with regular teaching sessions, and innovative use of google classrooms, an on-line, educational platform.

Main duties of the job

The post has been developed to offer the opportunity to develop professionally with the aim of becoming a competent, knowledgeable infusions nurse within the haemto-oncology units, able to give holistic care to the patient and their family throughout their course of treatment. The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care in which they are competent, without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and support the training of both qualified and unqualified staff. This post is not a part of the chemotherapy development nurse pathway, but will offer an opportunity to support the out-patient unit staff with less complex infusions and regimes.

Working for our organisation

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference'. We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. It's about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.

Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programmes are used then the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.
