We have an exciting opportunity for a driver at ourZone, a day centre where people with long term disabilities come to socialise, exercise, and engage in group games and activities.
We are looking for someone who is committed to providing a safe and efficient transport service for the day centre members, who require support to attend the centre.
Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
- To be part of a small team of driver/escorts and escorts.
- To be responsible for safely driving and escorting members to and from the centre.
- To interact with, and support, members during their time travelling and under the care of the transport team.
- To meet the needs of ourZone and its members with the support of the rest of the team.
- To deal with all situations involving members and/or the general public in a professional manner, either face to face or via the telephone and to assist with the enabling of members to attend sessions.

1. Communication and relationship skills
• To work closely with managers, clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure members requirements are understood and met
• Communicate with members, administration team regarding any issues that may arise, ensuring the appropriate person is made aware
• To represent Medway Community Healthcare (MCH) Community Interest Company (CIC) adhering to the dress code and maintaining the uniform provided in a clean condition
• To ensure a handover of relevant information, regarding the shift to ourZone lead
• To attend staff meetings in ourZone
2. Knowledge, training and experience
• To possess and maintain a clean driving license including D1 category
• To have a current MIDAS or willingness to undertake
• To drive in accordance with the rules of the Highway Code
• Knowledge of the Medway Towns in order to create efficient routes
• Ability to use IT equipment and perform minor clerical duties
• Good interpersonal skills on the telephone and face to face, including dealing with professional staff and solutions involving aggression or anxiety and with whom English is not their first language
• Able to work with defined guidelines
• Flexible approach to working hours as the service develops including the option to work weekends and evenings
• Understanding of confidentiality and discretion
• To participate in the organisation appraisal process
• To attend appropriate training courses ensuring compliance with Statutory and Mandatory

• Knowledge of basic child/adult protection issues
3. Analytical and judgement skills
• Ability to use initiative and demonstrate flexibility in changing traffic environment
• Able to review routes and decide the most efficient
• Able to act on ad hoc requests
• Schedule tasks to ensure efficient home visits
4. Planning and organisational skills
• To plan the most effective route for all visits
• To load and unload the vehicle safely, using equipment provided
• To organise the vehicle to make best use of the space and ease of use

5. Physical skills
• Ability to drive continuously throughout the shift with frequent stops to home visits
• To load and unload the vehicle with the equipment provided
• To demonstrate good keyboard skills with a high standard of accuracy
6. Responsibility for patient / client care
• Deliver a high quality service to members, informing them of the status of the home visit
• Undertaking both driving and escorting duties. The post holder is responsible for the safety of members and staff
• Assisting passengers and as necessary helping them in and out of the vehicles using the equipment provided (this may involve moving and handling)
• To review and complete paperwork/folders in the vehicle or regarding the vehicle
• In the event of an accident, breakdown or any other emergency, to provide timely and appropriate actions and the advice to facilitate the safety, comfort and retrieval of passengers and to arrange the security and recovery of the vehicle in conjunction with the accepted contacts and practices
7. Responsibility for policy and service development implementation
• To demonstrate a working knowledge of and operate within the guidelines of national and local policies/procedures relating to Planned Care. These may be in relation to upgrades to the IT system, patient or clinical alerts, drug or medical equipment alerts, or policies relating to the periods of surge in demand
• To act in accordance with MCH policies and procedures promoting a positive image that reflects the values of the organisation
8. Responsibilities for financial and physical resources
• To complete a vehicle check list before the shift, reporting any non-urgent defects
• To maintain the vehicle in a clean condition both interior and exterior, completing the vehicle checklist and cleaning schedule
• To recognise and maintain efficient routes to save on fuel
• To minimise costs by driving appropriately and completing vehicle checks
• To inform admin staff when stock or equipment needs replenishing and/or equipment needs repair
• To issue receipts to service users/carers for small sums of money for lunch, activities etc.

9. Responsibilities for human resources (HR)
• Attendance at monthly staff meetings to share good practice and liaison with other colleagues
• Identifying and participating in any training required to carry out role as agreed line manager
• Participation in MCH appraisal and performance review process
• Compulsory attendance at all statutory and mandatory training
10. Responsibilities for information resources
• Completion of monitoring sheets when required
• Completion and recording annual leave and training
• Ensuring compliance with information governance policy, respecting the duty to protect patient/family information at all times
• To ensure data is stored electronically or in hard copy, complies with the defined boundaries for confidentiality and to demonstrate a working knowledge of legislation relating to data protection and confidentiality
