If you answered yes, we’ve got the perfect role for you!

You will be expected to provide day to day operational and line management of a Health Visiting team, identifying and managing any risks with the support /direction of Head of Service. This role requires you to manage your own caseload whilst ensuring that the service specification for Health Visiting is implemented and appropriate data is collected, analysed and presented for contract monitoring. You will also need to ensure the Health Visiting team delivers services in line with national and local policies in line with the healthy child programme.

  • Supporting the wider team and specialist Health visitors.
  • To maintain clinical competence and credibility to enable provision of both professional, clinical and safeguarding supervision, skill development and support of team members
  • To co-ordinate the workload of the team ensuring the delivery of an effective service and allocation of resources

  • Registered RGN or Midwife

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent

  1. Analytical and judgement skills
  • To manage clinical and non-clinical risk within own role/ and for the team according to team and the organisation’s protocols.
  • To understand the balance of professional development needs with the service needs
  • As a nurse prescriber take responsibility for prescribing in line with the nurse prescribing formulary, Medway Community Healthcare and national policies/ guidelines
  • Analyse audit findings and prepare detailed recommendations and action plans.
  1. Planning and organisational skills
  • To contribute to the development of the team and service provision
  • To comply with organisational, departmental and the organisations policies and procedures
  • To collect and submit all data and statistics as required in a timely and accurate manner
  • To be aware of health and safety aspects of own/teams work and implement any policies which may be required to improve the safety of own work area, including prompt recording reporting and investigating of incidents or concerns
  • To independently plan and prioritise own workload, including delegating and organising the work of the team
  • To ensure team and line managers are aware of workload/whereabouts through use of electronic shared diaries
  • To ensure the team meets the required levels of compliance for statutory and mandatory training and appraisals, supported by the wider leadership team/clinical leads
  • To co-ordinate annual leave, study leave and duty rotas
  • To plan, evaluate and participate in the audit and standards of care.

  • Use of growth monitoring equipment e.g scales, height/length measuring tools.
  • Ability to access diverse sites in a timely manner to undertake home visits, meetings etc
  1. Responsibility for client care
  • Working as a senior member of the team to holistically assess, implement, evaluate and provide specialist health visiting including appropriate follow up, for clients in the community with sometimes complex needs ensuring person centred, evidence based care
  • To provide the clinical and managerial lead on a day to day basis for the team providing a high standard of care to clients whilst maintaining a safe environment
  • Safeguard the client group by adhering to child/adult guidelines and procedures. Key participant in adult / child protection proceedings when appropriate
  • To work as a non- medical prescriber, diagnosing and prescribing treatment for a range of childhood conditions and minor ailments on completion of appropriate training
  • To act as a public health resource and be responsible for developing, organising, implementing and evaluating specialist public health programmes
  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work e.g. NMC registration
  • To liaise with other services to provide a seamless client experience and quality outcome
  • Actively promote equality and value diversity
  1. Responsibility for policy and service development implementation
  • Maintain a professional manner and act as a role model, adhering to the NMC code of professional conduct and organisational policies and protocols. Comment on policies and procedures
  • Actively participate in clinical audit and clinical governance activities including risk assessments, complaint investigation
  • Participate in data collection, activity reporting and outcome measuring for the service
  • Identify and progress practice development to improve client care standards and outcomes
  • Actively progress integrated/interprofessional client care

  1. Responsibilities for financial and physical resources
  • Authorised signatory for team’s expenses, study leave, timesheets and mileage.
  • Responsible for the monitoring and safe use of expensive equipment e.g. scales, iNurses.
  1. Responsibilities for human resources (HR)
  • Line manage the team (including other line management responsibility is applicable as agreed by the Head of Service), including recruitment, appraisals, clinical supervision, training and education, probation, induction and rotas, sickness/absence monitoring and disciplinary and capability processes with the support of  senior management
  • Management responsibility for ensuring continuing quality of client care by evidence based practice
  • Provide managerial cover for other Team Leads in their absence
  • Participate in own appraisal and clinical supervision as supervisee
  • Support new members of the team and students

  • Ensure records are kept up to date and safeguard client confidentiality by being aware of professional, legal and ethical responsibilities.
