Job overview

The post holder will provide comprehensive and efficient administrative support to the Heart Failure Specialist Nursing team within East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, ensuring a high level of clinic organisation utilising the EMIS system, PAS/Cerner system, stock ordering, making and receiving telephone calls to patients and other hospital departments whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times.

 

Main duties of the job

 

 

 Act as first point of telephone contact for all calls to the Heart Failure Nurse Specialist team, including those from GPs, District Nurses, senior and junior hospital doctors, all other health professionals and non-clinical staff.

  Make all out-patient appointments for Heart Failure Nurse Specialist clinics as appropriate utilising the EMIS system.

Registration of patient details onto EMIS, updating demographics if required.

Coding of patient attendances and outcomes on EMIS.

Filing and archiving of case notes.

Distribution and filing of clinic letters as appropriate eg to GPs/Consultants and other health professionals as requested by the Specialist Nurses.

Accepting and adding referrals, discharging patients, distributing appointments and organising clinics as required on the patient administration services (EMIS).

Ordering of stock via NHS Supply Chain and/or E-Procurement.

Receipting orders via E-Procurement.

Deal with all mail relevant to the Heart Failure Nurse Specialist Team.

May be required to support peripheral services at other locations eg Cardiac Rehabilitation as required.

Typing minutes of departmental meetings and record them for distribution, filing electronically as appropriate.

Typing of Heart Failure nurse clinic letters using audio typing systems (on occasion, as requested).

General office duties e.g. filing, photocopying, use of computer services, scanning etc.
