An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Corporate Nursing and Integrated Governance Unit for an innovative and skilled Quality Governance Lead.

You will require commitment, passion and motivation in order to fulfil the requirements of this role, in enabling corporate and divisional compliance
with the national requirements and standards set by commissioners, Care quality commission, NHS England and other regulators. The post holder
will provide Quality Governance support across the organisation, with a quality improvement, safety, compliance and assurance focus.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be one of the team of senior staff and leaders in the Nursing and Integrated Governance Team who will collectively have the
responsibility for enabling corporate and divisional compliance with the national requirements and standards set by the Commissioners, Care
Quality Commission, NHS England/Improvement and other regulators. The post holder will provide Quality Governance support across the
organisation. The role has a quality improvement, safety, compliance and assurance focus. The post holder will:

• Provide leadership and professional advice to managers and staff within the Trust on governance and assurance processes.
• Support the delivery of the Trust and Divisional assurance, quality, safety, and governance strategies and agendas which underpin the delivery of the corporate objectives and Trust response to the NHS Long Term Plan.
• Be responsible for leading the development, and maintenance of the Divisional Quality Assurance Framework with the senior management team and ensure alignment and compliance with the Trust’s overarching policies relating to Integrated Governance Quality Assurance Framework.
• With Divisional Directors and Directorate Managers, Senior Nurses and Clinical Leads and the Associate Director of Governance and Assurance ensure that systems are in place to provide assurances, insight foresight and oversight in respect of quality and safety for staff, patients and service users across spheres of responsibility.

Essential criteria
  • Degree or degree level educational qualification
  • Postgraduate level qualification / training or equivalent work experience in a risk management and governance environment
Desirable criteria
  • Masters level education
  • Prince 2 qualification
  • Registered Health Care Professional with a current professional registration

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience in a senior management role within a governance compliance or assurance environment preferably in a social care or health organisation.
  • Experience of multi professional and agency working to deliver improvement programmes/agendas across services.
  • Experience of developing and implementing systems to enable monitoring and collating evidence of assurances.
  • Experience of delivering and coordinating projects in complex and challenging environments.
  • Experience in teaching small and large groups and delivery of presentations with confidence to a range of audiences.
  • Proven track record of delivering change.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working in patient safety or in a clinical or social care environment.
  • Root cause analysis/ Human factors training.
  • Experience of participating in clinical or process audits.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Extensive working knowledge of governance processes in clinical services and the interface with quality of care and assurance mechanisms.
  • In depth knowledge of patient safety / risk management and governance within a Health or Social care organisation
  • Working knowledge of NHS regulatory programmes of work and the relationship with / to risk management strategy and policy
  • Knowledge of the wider NHS governance programmes of work and national agenda
  • Developed analytical skills with the ability to assess, synthesize, interpret, act and report upon complex qualitative and quantitative data from a variety of sources
  • Understanding of audit and improvement methodology
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Safeguard Ulysses software system or similar risk management system
