Meet and Greet Volunteer at Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care

As a Meet & Greet volunteer, we require your positive energy, skills, and commitment to help us to enhance the experience for our patients, visitors, and staff.
Our Volunteers are celebrated members of the T&GICFT family. They make a unique and valuable contribution to patients, carers, relatives, visitors and staff and play a vital role in our services. Not only do our volunteers share their time and expertise to make a difference, in turn, our volunteers will have opportunities to meet new people, gain experience and learn new skills.
Please note, this role is only available between the hours of 08:00 - 17:00, Monday - Friday. Please do not apply if you are only available to volunteer at the weekend
Please also note that we are expecting a high interest in our volunteer positions, and therefore we will be reviewing applications and may close the vacancy on receipt of sufficient applications.
Main duties of the job
Meet & Greet volunteers are based at the main entrances to the hospital and provide a valuable service to patients, relatives and visitors.
Key requirements
- Aged 16 years or above and able to commit to volunteering for a minimum of six months
- Reliable and punctual
- Understand the importance of confidentiality and following procedures
- Willing to undertake any necessary training
- To be confident when communicating with patients, visitors, staff and members of the general public.
- Friendly and approachable
- Patient and people focused
- Respectful
- Able to work independently and use initiative

Role description and main responsibilities
What will you do as a MEET & GREET Volunteer
- Provide guidance and way finding to patients,
visitors and staff around the main hospital site - Develop an in depth knowledge of the hospital
site in order to provide patients with guidance
regarding the whereabouts of departments. - Provide patients and visitors with directions and
wherever possible to take them to their required
destination - Collect wheelchairs from around the hospital
site and return them to their bays ready for use
We expect our volunteers to be presentable, smart and always wearing your volunteer uniform and ID badge. All of our volunteers must comply with the Trust’s Values and Behaviours at all times.
