We are seeking an experienced NHS Operational Administration Manager who is ready for an exciting career opportunity. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience and a demonstrable passion for managing large administrative workforces within both hospital and community settings. 

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Directorate Manager and Divisional teams, providing compassionate and robust operational leadership. The post holder will oversee the operational management of delegated services within the directorate, ensuring effective leadership and promoting quality and performance improvement to achieve the highest standards of patient care. 

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years managerial experience within an NHS setting. They must be capable of managing conflicting priorities and be adept at problem-solving at an operational level. They should have a proven track record in service, change, and people management, and demonstrate consistent achievement of set objectives, targets, and continuous performance improvement. A degree or equivalent experience in management is required, along with experience managing staff from diverse professional backgrounds and disciplines. 

This position is a 12-month fixed term opportunity, with the possibility of expansion of the role and the contract becoming permanent at the end of the 12-month period. 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

Provides support to the Directorate Manager in the operational delivery and performance management of Urgent Care, Bed Bureau, Ward Administration & Community Administration services ensuring key targets and quality standards are maintained and sustained. 

Development of Directorate teams, both clinical and non-clinical, to lead the patient journey improving processes and patient experience.

Manage all delegated administration and clerical staff within the Directorate.

Work in partnership with the Deputy Directorate Managers in order to ensure that the departments are adequately resourced in terms of staffing levels to maintain a 7 day service, ensuring that all shifts are fully covered. This requires flexibility and the ability to work weekends/out of hours if required.

Organise and plan own day to day workload or activities managing and prioritising in order to meet the demands of the job ensuring deadlines are adhered to and demonstrating effective time management. Be able to remain calm under pressure and able to problem solve.

Lead on a range of designated redesign projects to ultimately improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the Directorate. 

Have knowledge and understanding in relation to pay and non-pay budgets, managing spend efficiently and effectively.

Contribute to the coordination and gathering of information for strategic investment proposals, business cases and options appraisals as and when required.

This role will be working within the Clinical Support Services Division for Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care Organisation. The role will be responsible for operationally managing services that are based at the hospital and within community services with the requirement of the successful candidate working across various sites within Tameside.

Post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of a number of service initiatives, supporting clinical and non-clinical staff. The post holder will be expected to work independently to manage these services, in line with service requirements and local/national policies. In addition to the commissioned schemes of work there will be a requirement to undertake other ad hoc analysis requests and to undertake a range of projects and programmes as directed by the Directorate Manager for Clinical Support Services.

The post holder will be required to provide and receive complex, contentious and commercially sensitive information e.g performance information, staff redundancy, disciplinary hearings, personnel details, performance indicators and financial information and be able to use a range of different persuasive, motivational, negotiating skills in the pursuit of achieving desired outcomes and make sound decisions in line with Trust policies.

They will employ a problem-solving approach to service improvement in a multi-disciplinary environment. They will also possess a proven track record of enhancing performance and driving service transformation.

The post holder will develop long-term strategies and policies for transformational change and lead various workstreams to enhance service delivery.

Knowledge of pay and non-pay budgets is essential.

Participation in the First On Call managers rota may also be required.

The candidate should possess high emotional intelligence, strong and adaptable interpersonal skills, and emotional resilience.

  • IT literate knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of administrative and business processes, tools and techniques
