Specialty Doctor within Anaesthetics - 10 PA's - Permanent 

Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking applications to appoint Specialty Doctors (Staff Grade level) in the Anaesthetic Department. The post holder will be based solely at Tameside General Hospital at this time, but it is possible that you will be required to cover work at a sister hospital as part of Healthier together programme. Candidates will be expected to have at least 2 to 3 years experience in Anaesthetics.  

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide middle grade surgeon support to the Consultants and SHO including clinical work and operating lists, at times independent of direct supervision. To work to sustain the provision of an efficient Anaesthetic service to patients, including ensuring, in conjunction with colleagues, the highest quality of care is provided to each individual patient in meeting and delivering its local and national targets.
SAS colleagues in Anaesthetics also form part of the 2nd on call rota covering Maternity and ITU and on occasions 1st on Call.

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of satisfactory continuing education.
  • Evidence of previous completion of audits
  • Willingness to undertake appropriate training for the post and teach junior members of staff.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Written communication in a clear and concise manner.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with patients and colleagues.
  • Experience of supervision of junior staff.

  • Current full GMC registration(or eligible to apply)

  • FRCA (UK) or Equivalent

  • Anaesthesia experience of 2-3 years with at least some experience at a registrar level
  • Should be able to work operations independently.
  • Should be able to deal with all emergencies.
Desirable criteria
  • ITU/Obstetric experience desirable
