We are looking for 1 dynamic and motivated individual to join our Rheumatology Department at Tameside. The hospital team currently consists of 4 consultants, with an expanding specialist pharmacy and nursing team, The department has good links with the University of Manchester and other Rheumatology centres within the North West Deanery and also with Primary Care colleagues locally.
This post represents an exciting opportunity to join one of the pioneering integrated care organisations in the country which is transforming the way care is delivered to improve the health of the population it serves. Not only does this post provide exposure to a variety of clinical settings but also the opportunity to be at the core of transforming our services to provide a truly integrated model of health care to our population. The Rheumatology team have been pivotal in some key service transformations within the Trust such as implementing Model A (DMARD) hospital transition, developing an Early Arthritis Pathway, Giant Cell Arteritis Pathway and initiating a Fracture Liason Service. The ambition is for the Rheumatology workforce to continue to expand throughout 2025 with the addition of Consultant post.

Main duties of the job
Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust seeks to appoint a consultant on a 10 Programmed Activity (PA) job plan in the specialty of Rheumatology.
Part time or flexible working (e.g. weekends and evenings) will be considered. Specialist interests (such as research) will also be considered for the right candidate.
The role will include assisting in optimising pathways enhancing the service offered to the local community and linking in with tertiary centres with opportunities to participate in junior doctor training and research.
We are committed to driving service improvements promoting best practice in the management of patients with rheumatological diseases, including inpatient admissions and outpatient clinics.
Candidates will be required to manage the workload of the Rheumatology Department.
You should be on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council or be in receipt of the Certificate of Specialist Training (CCT) within six months of the date of interview.

- Full registration with the General Medical Council with a valid license to practice
