The Procurement department are looking to appoint a self-motivated, innovative and proactive individual for this challenging and rewarding role within a busy NHS Foundation Trust hospital. 

The successful candidate will work as an integral member of the P2P and eCommerce team to provide a one stop shop service to wards and clinical departments covering a range of duties.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for providing a flexible and comprehensive procurement service for the Trust.  They will carry out the procurement of agreed goods and services in line with the Trust’s

Standing Financial Instructions obtaining best value and delivery within the specifications provided. The post-holder will be expected to manage their own, very demanding, workload unsupervised and be able to work well under pressure, prioritise and use their own initiative to ensure discretion and confidentiality at all times

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Day to day activities include but not restricted to the following

Co-ordination of Trust Catalogue system (GHX Nexus) liaising with various stakeholders to ensure accuracy and consistancy

eProcurement Helpdesk, managing all internal and external queries, communicating via the plethero of mediums. 

Carrying out Procurement due dilligence in relation to processing of requisitions ensuring compliance with Trust SFI's and Procurement regulations

Assistance with all eCommerce activities such as catalogue deployment and Exchange services

Procurement systems management relating to Trust IMS, Catalogue and ERP systems.

Provide both regulated and bespoke training internal stakeholders of all levels of seniority 

Ensuring invoices and payments are managed and resolved in line with BPPC

Liaising with internal stakeholders to source and products and suppliers

Operate within the Trust Policies and Procedures and display a high standard of professional conduct with stakeholders and suppliers. Be proactive in dealing with enquiries, particularly during ward visits where you will be the Procurement ‘ambassador’. Decisions will have to be taken ‘on the spot’ to ensure continuity of supply to the wards. Report any problems or difficulties that cannot be resolved immediately.

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good Standard of Education or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of procedures to NVQ level or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Commitment to study to achieve membership and qualification (CIPS)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working as part of team/office environment or equivalent
  • Experience of customer facing roles or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Public or Private sector procurement
  • Catalogue Management
  • Purchasing Experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of basic Microsoft packages
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of Catalogue, IMS and ERP systems

Aptitudes

Essential criteria
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to articulate questions and thoughts
