Job overview

We are excited to be able to advertise for a Full Time Ward Administrator working in our Ramsey Mental Health Inpatient Ward, Dane garth. 

We are looking for a highly motivated, pro-active individual who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, lots of initiative and is looking for their next challenge.  

You will provide a comprehensive administration and information service to the Inpatient ward within the Mental Health Network, coordinating their activities with other members of the Administration Team to ensure an efficient and confidential service is provided.

To carry out these duties the ward clerk will be expected to utilise a range of technical skills, which may include word processing, use of e-mail and other IT skills as well as using highly developed inter-personal and communication skills.

Previous experience in a clinical setting is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

While this is a demanding and busy role, the successful candidate is required to be able to demonstrate the Trust values and standards of behaviour expected by the organisation and meet the responsibilities of the job description and person specification.

Main duties of the job

  • Answer telephones, taking and forwarding messages, ensuring that all telephone and personal callers receive a prompt, courteous, non-judgmental and well-informed response.
  • Respond to queries, dealing with routine matters and passing more complex queries to the appropriate member of staff.
  • Provide cover for other clinically based ward clerks during leave/sickness on an ad-hoc basis as required.
  • Provide an administrative service to include typing of routine information such as reports, patients’ admission/transfer/discharge and Care Programme.
  • Approach documentation, confidential letters, Multi-Disciplinary Meetings and other correspondence on behalf of the team, ensuring a high standard in accordance with Trust standards.
  • Coordinate and manage the MDT’s diary, prepare agendas liaising with individuals both within and out with the Trust, and arrange meetings on behalf of the MDT.

  • Good standard of education to NVQ level 3 equivalent OR equivalent experience in an administrative role
