This is an exciting and engaging opportunity for the candidate to grow on the job.  We are looking for someone thoughtful who has enthusiasm for managing and supporting the team  in a Decontamination setting  predominantly within the Endoscopy Scope Service  but also to work within Sterile Services and Laundry environment when required.   We require a person who is looking to thrive in a role that requires genuine autonomy and the chance to work as part of a continually changing environment.

The Decontamination services are used by the Trusts many wards, departments, theatres and also external health care providers and are supplied  with clean laundry and linen, sterile surgical instruments,  Endoscopy scopes and soft packs for safe patient use.

Main duties of the job

Duties and Responsibilities;

Leading and mentoring our Decontamination Technician team – including day to day management in all duties performed,ensuring team objectives are met,  creating rota’s and supporting with urgent requirements.

Assisting the Management Team in the training/development of staff to ensure departmental standard operating procedures are adhered to, allowing staff to conduct their duties within the scope of the Quality Management System BS EN ISO9001, ISO13485 and JAG. 

Form part of the Quality Control team and assist in general auditing duties and perform a full range of decontamination duties.  You will need to be able to work fluently with Microsoft Word and Excel packages to perform duties using electronic spreadsheets and data bases.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for the daily testing and logging of equipment.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Level 2 Maths and English Qualification or equivalent qualification in Maths and English.
Desirable criteria
  • To undertake a NVQ in Customer Care or equivalent in Sterile Services Field

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous Supervisory experience
  • IT skills – Microsoft Word and Excel
Desirable criteria
  • In depth knowledge of sterilisation /decontamination practices, HTM01-01
  • Previous experience in HSDU environment

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to understand and follow spoken instructions, comply with detailed work procedures and training.
  • Observe and comply with legislation
  • Ability to count, record numbers and read, follow detailed work instructions.
