The post holder for the role will start as a band 6 pharmacist, during which time they will complete a progressional competency based training pathway. Upon successful completion, the post holder will be eligible to progress to a band 7 pharmacist position.

Post holders can expect to complete their training within approximately 12 months, subject to attaining the required competencies and sign-off by the Principle pharmacist.

Note that the time taken to complete the progressional pathway will be longer for those working part time.

Gweithio i'n sefydliad

We went live in June 2023 with a Trust-wide electronic patient records and electronic prescribing and medicines administration system.

We have a large cohort of Non-Medical Prescribers and are passionate in supporting our team of pharmacists to gain this qualification, along with the post-graduate clinical certificate/diploma.

We have strong links with our local universities with three teacher practitioners.

We were an early-adopter site for the RPS’s Transfer of Care initiative which led to the creation of the world's first fully integrated hospital to community pharmacy e-referral system: Refer-to-Pharmacy.

We have a Homecare team and specialist pharmacists within the Dermatology, Rheumatology, Cardiology and Gastroenterology directorates providing out-patient clinics.

You may also be interested to know that East Lancashire Hospitals provides onsite parking and is well connected to the motorway network, making it an easy commuting distance from Manchester and Liverpool, with many of our team hailing from these locations. The Lake District is a short drive away for leisure activities.

Note that the post holder will also be trained to participate in the on-call pharmacist rota (1 in 21 frequency with competitive remuneration).

The post will involve participation in the weekend working roster (typically 1 in 7) with options of enhanced payment or time back the following working week.

The post will involve participation in the late night rota (typically 1 in 21 frequency 5-7:30 pm) with options of payment of time back. The late night shifts will be carried out alongside a more senior pharmacist.

We are committed to supporting flexible working and developing new and exciting ways of working, to support a thriving workforce.
