The job is based within the Head & Neck Department at Royal Blackburn Hospital.  We are seeking  an enthusiastic and hard-working individual to join a team of Audio Typists to support the Medical Secretaries and clinical team within their roles.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clerical Officer/Audio Typist  to join a very busy Head & Neck Department to support the medical secretaries with their clinic typing etc

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The main responsibility of this role is to support the medical secretaries undertaking: 

·          Audio-typing in relation to outpatient consultations and inpatient discharge summaries.

·          May be required to liaise with Reception staff/Appointment clerks regarding follow up appointments.

·          Completing standard letters and sending to source of referral where patients fail to attend for clinic appointments.

·          Input and extract data from the Cerner and other relevant software programmes.

EDUCATION

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English Level 4 and above or equivalent
  • Keyboard Skills
Desirable criteria
  • RSA/OCR Medical Audio-Typewriting
  • RSA/OCR II Typewriting or RSA/OCR Word Processing
  • RAS/OCR Audio Typewriting or proven ability of an equivalent level of skill

JOB EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Six months clerical experience
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Audio-typewriting experience
