Job overview
We are currently looking for an Agile Receptionist who excels in customer service, has strong communication skills and team spirit to work on a busy mental health in-patient reception, based at Pendleview Unit, Royal Blackburn Hospital.
Hours of work are 24 hours per week – on a rota basis – Reception is covered 7 days a week including bank holidays 7am – 9pm, enhanced pay applies.
The role requires organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload, and requires being able to travel to different sites in order to provide agile cover.
Experience of Microsoft Word & Excel is essential – training for in house systems will be given.
You will be meeting and greeting visitors and service users, dealing with telephone calls, issuing swipes and alarms to staff/visitors, dealing with the post along with other general office duties.
This is a fixed term contract for 9 months to cover maternity leave.
Main duties of the job
- To communicate with staff, service users and visitors on potentially difficult, sensitive and complex issues. This will require a level of negotiating, empathy and reassurance skills
- To maintain a high standard and professional reception service within base and locality
- To maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels, internal and external across the whole health economy
- Resolve day-to-day basic operational and administrative problems relating to reception and building governance with the support and guidance of the Locality Reception

Participate in the reception rota to ensure a reception service is available throughout the locality.

To cover during extended opening hours were applicable
- To provide a meet and greet service to service users, carers, staff and members of the public.
