Job overview

An exciting opportunity to join the Acute Medicine Team working as a junior doctor.

This role will cover all 3 areas of our service including the Acute Medical Unit, Same Day Emergency Care and also the Short Stay Unit.

Out of hours working is part of the role including evening / weekends / nights

Main duties of the job

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The post holder will rotate between the services where there is a strong focus on teamwork. The post holder will receive a Consultant Supervisor and will deliver a wide range of medical input in managing medical patients in the acute setting. 

·         Responsible for the timely assessment of all medical patients attending the services

·         Be involved in complex clinical patient management problems and multi-disciplinary planning and treatment.

·         To be responsible for keeping of medical case-notes, ordering and interpreting investigations, writing electronic summaries and making referrals to other specialties.

·         · To ensure that discharge summaries are carried out promptly and accurately

·         To work with the nursing teams to deliver high standards of care.

·         Administrative duties within the department

·     To maintain a good working relationship with existing staff members in the hospital.

·         Undertake re-validation as per the General medical Council and will be required to undergo multi-source feedback and participate in reflective practice

·          Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures

·         To perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate Consultant in conjunction, where practicable, with their colleagues both senior and junior
