An exciting opportunity has arisen for a pharmacist to take on a senior role within the Pharmacy Team. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic pharmacist to lead on services to the gastroenterology department whilst also playing a senior role within the pharmacy medicine team alongside other specialist Lead Pharmacists. The gastroenterology department is well-established, covering inpatient and outpatient activity alongside endoscopic procedures. The endoscopy department has 5 endoscopy rooms performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including EUS and ERCP and are the administrative site for delivering bowel cancer screening as well as bowel scope for the region.

The department has a strong commitment to advancing pharmacy practice and embedding effective medicines management systems into patient care and is now looking to appoint a dynamic individual with good organisational and communication skills who is keen to be involved in the development of the clinical service provided to the gastroenterology department. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will provide a comprehensive and high quality clinical service.

The successful candidate will work at a senior level within the service and play an influential role in the patients care pathway whilst building upon proven clinical skills. The combination of responsibilities within the role will significantly facilitate your growth as a Pharmacy practitioner.

You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to promote clinical and cost-effective prescribing through evidence based guidelines. The post holder will develop, audit and monitor Medicines Management processes within the service and provide training and supervision to departmental staff.

In addition to well-developed communication and leadership skills you will have previous experience of working within a clinical environment and will have completed a post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy. Evidence of multi-disciplinary teamwork would be advantageous.

Training and support will be given. A commitment to continuing professional development is essential. It is envisaged that the candidate will possess a prescribing qualification or be prepared to work towards one.

The Pharmacy Department at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals is a large department (over 150 staff) and a friendly environment with established senior support.  We are dedicated to education and professional development and encourage/support ongoing education.  We have a very favourable oncall commitment, that all pharmacists in the department contribute to.
