Ward Based Pharmacy Support Worker

Band 2/3

Monday - Friday 8.45am – 5pm

 (Evening/Weekend & Bank Holiday working on a rotational basis)

We are looking to recruit a ward based Pharmacy Support Worker to join our caring, forward thinking ward based Pharmacy teams.

This is an excellent opportunity to start a career in hospital pharmacy and gain valuable experience working at ward level as part of the Pharmacy Clinical Service.

Main duties of the job

Your duties will include:

  • Working within one of our ward based Pharmacy teams, providing a dispensing service to in patients.
  • Ensuring the safe and efficient supply of medicines to patients.
  • The dispensing of take home prescriptions in order to support timely discharge
  • Completion of the training course for NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services if not already held
  • Assist in ward based audits of the service

You must be reliable and enthusiastic and have a desire to learn and work towards a nationally recognised qualification if not already held.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Previous experience in dispensing is not necessary as full training will be given. Applicants without an NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services will be initially appointed as a Band 2 and upon achievement of this qualification, will gain promotion to Band 3.

The suitable candidate should have a methodical approach to their work, the ability to work un-supervised using their own initiative and be committed to ensuring that high standards are met. Good oral communication skills are essential.
