Main duties of the job
You will be a Nurse working within a multi-disciplinary team and carry out a diverse range of duties. As a Band 5 Nurse within the team you will be regularly supported and supervised by a nominated Band 6 Nurse Specialist and you will be encouraged to take personal responsibility for clinical supervision and your continued professional development plan.
You will undertake a period of preceptorship overseen by a named Band 6 Nurse Specialist within your team and engage on the trusts Preceptorship programme.
You will actively promote teamwork, respect, integrity, accountability, excellence and compassion within the clinical team in accordance with the Trust values and Code of Conduct. You are required to maintain links with your professional body and provide evidence for the revalidation process.
You will provide nurse leadership within the multi-disciplinary team and ensure the effective assessment, formulation, planning and monitoring of care given to service users.
You will exercise professional accountability and responsibility using skills, knowledge and expertise in changing environments, across clinical boundaries and in unfamiliar situations as outlined within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

The Welcome Bonus is only available to candidates who are not currently employed (or who have not been employed in the last 12 months) by any NHS provider Trust in the Lancashire & South Cumbria (LSC) Integrated Care System (ICS) in a like-for-like role or core profession. For example, a Band 5 OT / Social Worker / MH Nurse at another Trust in the LSC ICS would not be eligible for the bonus if moving to a Band 5 OT / Social Worker / MH Nurse role at LSCFT or in a role such as Mental Health Practitioner Role that requires the same profession.

These incentives are subject to recovery clauses within the first 6 months of employment. This bonus is applicable from 1st July 2024 – 30th November 2024.

Essential criteria
- Registered Mental Health Nurse Qualification.(RNMH & RNLD) or a student nurse nearing qualification
- On-going registration with the NMC.
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development that supports clinical practice.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Can demonstrate an understanding and knowledge base of mental health conditions and their treatments.
- Can demonstrate a working knowledge of physical health conditions and the complications that this can cause to patients experiencing mental ill health.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Post Graduate experience or be a student nurse nearing qualification
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team structure.
