Job overview

Are you a rehabilitation assistant with an interest in stroke & neurological rehabilitation, and looking for a supported opportunity to develop your career? We are looking for you in our evolving Integrated Community Stroke & Neurorehabilitation service!

This is a band 3-4 position, the successful candidate will start as a band 3 and transition into band 4  either upon successful completion of competencies or following completion of the assistant practitioner course. The course is run through UCLAN over 24 months, and has specific stroke and neuro modules with a September only intake. Completion of this course is mandatory for the role.

 You will be required to take part in delivering a quality Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy & Speech & Language Therapy service under the supervision and guidance of qualified Therapists. You will also work clinically alongside other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide rehabilitative therapy for people who have sustained an acquired brain injury, have a neurological condition or have had a stroke.  

The successful applicant will need to have excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills, competent interpersonal skills and and have an ability to engage & motivate service-users. They will need to be able to work autonomously, demonstrate good problem-solving skills & be a team player.  

Main duties of the job

This role will provide you with the opportunity to support clients through rehabilitation to improve their independence, quality of life and avoid any unnecessary hospital stays, working with them in various settings within community including their own home, care homes, clinics etc.


Post holders will need to hold a drivers licence and have a vehicle available for work use as they will be required to travel across the service footprint.

To act as a rehabilitation assistant within the integrated community stroke and neuro rehabilitation service; a responsive and person centred service, delivering the best client outcomes through supporting and optimising peoples recovery at home, meeting their physical, mental health and social care needs and bridging the transition between acute hospital, primary and community care settings. 
 
Assisting members of the service by implementing programmes of rehabilitation which relate to any aspect of the daily life of people with a stroke, acquired brain injury or neurological diagnosis.
