Job overview

Bolton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Cardiology Department have an exciting opportunity for an experienced echocardiographer to join our busy and friendly team.

We are looking for an experienced echo physiologist to support services within the Trust. The successful candidate will be integral in developing the service, to work alongside other specialist echocardiography technicians for the provision of a comprehensive and high quality transthoracic, trans-oesophageal and stress echo service.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be BSE accredited with a minimum of 3 years post accreditation experience and be competent to issue independent echo reports. You will be expected to provide teaching for medical and physiologist staff in echocardiography.

To Liaise effectively with the clinical lead technician in echocardiography to ensure that department and BSE guidelines are maintained and to make sure that the guidelines are up-to-date and relevant to current clinical and technical practice.

To participate in research projects within the department as necessary and to contribute to maintaining high standards of clinical practice with evidence via clinical audit.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Clinical Physiology or equivalent.
  • BSE Accreditation with a minimum of 3 years experience post accreditation.
  • Registration Council Clinical Physiology.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Stress Echo’s.
  • Experience in TOE's

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience at a senior level
  • Significant experience of performing and reporting echocardiogams.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Wide knowledge of cardiac and respiratory investigations.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to perform wide range of Cardiorespiratory investigations at a high level of competency and interpret results.
  • Ability to work autonomously and to coordinate, plan and prioritise workloads.
  • Hand eye coordination skills and IT literate.
  • Good communication skills and Team Player.
  • Moving and handling skills.
