Job overview

We are looking for an experienced, caring and self-motivated clinician to support the work of the Community Paediatric team based at Breightmet Health Centre.
The successful applicant will have excellent clinical skills in a wide range of paediatric disciplines including skills working with looked after children. They will need to demonstrate attention to detail, have excellent communication skills, be well organised, flexible and self-directive with a positive ‘can do’/problem solving attitude.  They must be able to work confidently within a multi-disciplinary and multiagency team and be able to work to timescales and deadlines when needed. 

Main duties of the job

Clinical

The main areas of clinical work are:-

  1. General community paediatrics including care of children with neurodisabilities in locality based clinics. We aim to provide care as close to home as possible
  2. Responsibility for the health of children attending a local authority special school (secondary school), providing a clinic in the school
  3. Clinics for initial health assessments and adoption medicals

Essential criteria
  • Full registration with GMC
  • Ability to get independently to venues within the Bolton locality

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Broad knowledge of paediatrics with several years of experience
  • A thorough understanding of the health needs and requirements to support children who are looked after including experience of initial health assessments and adoption medicals
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
  • Ability to work to timescales and deadlines
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of performing consultant duties
  • Evidence of organisational and leadership skills

Experience

Essential criteria
  • MRCPCH or equivalent
  • On specialist register, holding paediatric CCT or expected to do so within 6 months of interview
Desirable criteria
  • Higher degree eg MD
