Bolton NHS Foundation Trust Occupational Health Department have a vacancy for an Counsellor (Band 5). You will play a vital role within the department as it strives to provide high quality services to employees of the Trust.
Main duties of the job
Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, friendly and motivated Staff Counsellor to work within the Occupational Health Department. Reporting to the Department Manager, you will hold a British Association of Counselling Diploma and associated accreditation or equivalent. Ideally with a apeciality in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a team which has developed an excellent service which fully supports the health and wellbeing needs of staff working for the Trust.
You will be expected to manage your own case load, negotiate client contracts and demonstrate your experience of evidence based practice to enhance your work. In order to fit in with the demands of this dynamic role and the needs of the team, you will be able to adapt to change, work both proactively and reactively in a flexible manner and demonstrate team working and a positive attitude.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Provides professional counselling for a wider range of issues including, but not restricted to relationship issues, depression, stress, anxiety, bereavement and work related issues.
- To utilise theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence-based practice on an individual basis.
- To agree a contract with a client after an initial assessment.
- To provide individual counselling to clients.
- To undertake continuing risk assessment of clients.
- To organise/ manage their own caseload.
- To be aware of and use appropriate referral systems.
- To keep confidential records in accordance with professional codes of practice and Trust
- Partake in Mental Wellbeing Clinics and sign post service users to a range of support that will be available.
- Help and partake is widening and diversifying our support package to staff members.

Essential criteria
- British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy
- Working towards accreditation
Desirable criteria
- Working in the NHS
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BACP approved Diploma in Person Centred Counselling
Desirable criteria
- Qualification in additional therapeutic orientations.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in short term, time limited counselling.
- Delivering initial counselling assessment session, for access to counselling
- Managing own counselling caseload and diary
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working across multiple sites delivering counselling.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, congruence, unconditional positive regard and acceptance in a therapeutic environment
- Ability to work autonomously
- Write clear records and to observe Policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Effective communication
- IT skills
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge and experience of person centred counselling practice.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge and experience of other therapeutic interventions
