Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a senior midwife to join our Digital Nursing, Midwifery and AHP (NMAHP) team at Bolton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.  The Digital Matron role with specifically focus on the requirements of the maternity services to scope, develop and implement an Electronic Patient Record (EPR) that maximises staff efficiency, improves the care and experience of the service users and their families.  Throughout the implementation and ongoing optimisation of the EPR for maternity the Digital Matron will utilise the data, feedback and documentation to continue to improve maternity services through quality improvement enabled by digital tools.  

The Digital Matron will have an overall responsibility for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of data quality within the service and work closely with the staff to ensure that national data quality standards are met.

The Digital Matron will work closely with the Chief X Information Officer (CXIO), maternity department and the wider Clinical Informatics team leading on projects to digitally transform practice and care experiences.

Main duties of the job

The Digital Matron role is essential to the safe and effective deployment of the Maternity EPR, a visible presence within the maternity department and informatics are crucial to ensure engagement, progress and readiness for the project.  You will have great communication skills and utilise a variety of channels to ensure that the maternity team are involved and updated from the start. 

You will have significant experience across maternity areas to support and advocate for the varied roles within midwifery and the requirements and impact on the staff and service users.  You will be able to manage expectations within the department and provide regular updates on the development, engagement, readiness and implementation of maternity digital technology.

The digital landscape is changing at pace within the NHS, you will have a passion for evidence based practice, keeping up to date with new technologies and digital tools that can continually provide better quality of care and experience for our staff and service users.

Qualifications and Education

Essential criteria

·         Relevant professional, qualification and current NMC/HCPC registration.

·         Relevant Master’s Degree or evidence of working at Masters level

·         Teaching qualification or equivalent experience

 

Desirable criteria

·         Qualified in speciality project management qualification (e.g. Prince 2)

·         Completion of Leadership Program me (e.g. ILM)

·         Digital Clinical Safety Officer Training

·         Significant experience at a band 7 senior clinical role

·         Experience of successfully managing the implementation of change

·         Evidence of professional leadership, leading to innovation in practice

·         Experience of partnership and interagency working

·         Evidence of collaboration skills

Clinical Practice
