The post holder will be a Registered Midwife and carry continuing responsibility for the operational management and leading the midwifery team on the maternity Triage department. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of high standards of midwifery care to women, birthing people, and families. The post holder will be responsible for budget management within their area and will advise and support staff, demonstrate a high level of competence in the specialty. The post holder will make decisions based upon knowledge and experience in respect of personalised care and support, and be accountable for those decisions. The post holder will ensure safe staffing, and that their team receives effective and personalised support including supporting team training to enable them to continue their professional development.
Main duties of the job
Act as an exemplary role model at all times line with the codes of conduct set out by the Trust and relevant professional bodies.
Provides management support for the ward/department including; production of off duty and allocations, sickness management, and annual leave management.
Chair monthly ward/departmental meetings, to ensure an awareness of developments within the area of practice, and directorate/Trust objectives.
Maintain effective communication and maintain effective MDT working relationships
Liaise with other service providers to support the efficiency of the ward/unit/area.
Lead in monitoring and promoting high standards of care, including audit of quality indicators, and devising action plans to address any deficits identified.
Manage clinical incidents, produce reports as requested by line managers, and take part in regular clinical audit review.
Participate in audit and evaluation programs as requested.
Participate in the Maternity Escalation/bleep holder role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Plan duty rotas, ensuring appropriate skill mix. Maximise the use of manpower and resources and promote new ways of working.
Allocate duties to staff in accordance with their individual levels of competence.
Deliver excellent standards of clinical practice to all women and support colleagues to deliver the best possible outcomes and experience.
Lead the service and ensure all midwives act as womens advocate in promoting, and delivering the highest standard of midwifery care, ensuring all fundamentals of care are addressed, and current, relevant policies and procedures are adhered to.
Using evidence-based practice, assess womens' physical, psychological and spiritual needs, create care plans, implement and evaluate midwifery care involving women and their families, as appropriate.
Management of allocated budgets ensuring effective use of financial resources.
Maximise the use of manpower and resources and promote new ways of working.
Work clinically when needed to work as a role model within the team
