Registered Nurse - Ophthalmology

NHS AfC: Band 5

Job overview

Are you an enthusiastic Nurse who would like to get your new career In Ophthalmology off to the best start in a high-performing, friendly and supportive Trust?  At Bolton NHS Foundation Trust we have a great role waiting for you.

The Eye Unit is looking for a full-time permanent Registered Nurse with an interest in Ophthalmology to join our team.  The Unit consists of twin theatre suites, injection clean room, ward, out-patient department, pre-assessment clinic and community based delivered ophthalmic services.

The Trust appreciates and values the contribution international nurses bring to the NHS. We also understand the support overseas nurses need to gain full registration once in the UK (via OSCE) and therefore we only recruit internationally to fill nursing vacancies when we can ensure support is in place. At this present time we aren’t in a position to offer that support and therefore will not accept applications from overseas nurses who only have Part 1 NMC registration. If that position changes in future we will clearly advertise our opportunities for international nurses to join our nurse team here in Bolton. Thank you for your understanding.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have the opportunity to gain ophthalmic technical skills, rotating through the unit supported by a mentorship programme.

Our Registered Nurses make a real difference to patients’ lives. Whether you are providing skilled nursing care or undertaking advanced clinical tasks, all the while you will be providing continuing compassionate care and support. You will be on hand to ensure that the ward or department runs smoothly and that patients receive all the care and support they need. You will find that it’s a role that is incredibly rewarding.

We are now accepting applications to work in a variety of clinical areas within the trust. We can also offer rotational opportunities to enable you to develop your skills and portfolio.

Working for our organisation

The hospital is known for being a friendly and supportive place to work; a large part of this is due to the teams that work here. As  qualified nurses you can be assured that you will be supported and developed in your role.

Here at Bolton our patients are at the heart of everything we do. We ensure our patients receive the highest quality of Care and are guided by our trust Values.  This is reflected in our latest CQC report of 'Good'. It is also supported by our Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professional Framework for Professional Practice.
