Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic, experienced physiotherapist to join the Palliative Care Therapy Team in Bolton. You will be part of a team consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists and a technical instructor. Therapy input is provided to people with malignant or non-malignant conditions who have a limited life expectancy.

 

The job will involve providing Palliative Physiotherapy to Bolton residents in their home and/or when they attend Bolton Hospice as an out-patient, in-patient or attend well being services.

 

Main duties of the job

You will work closely alongside the wider palliative care team with a patient centred focus to ensure that the palliative rehab needs of the Bolton population are met.

Duties will involve:

To work as an autonomous practitioner within the palliative care service supported by highly specialist therapists

 To perform therapeutic assessment of patients with palliative and end of life care with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver individualised treatment programmes.

 To provide specialist knowledge, skills and advice to clients, and be a source of expertise for therapy staff, other members of the MDT and other agencies

To supervise, educate and assess students and junior staff performance

To participate in service development activities as need identified.

To contribute to service research and audit activities.
