This incredibly varied role involves overseeing day to day radiology systems management in line with job description. This may include dealing with downtime, modality integrations, system configuration, liaising with suppliers and running statistical data. The applicant must be dynamic and enthusiastic, be able to react to the unforeseeable and manage a fluid workload.

Main duties of the job

  • Working alongside Radiology Systems Manager to provide an efficient and well run radiology Systems service.
  • Managing the day to service
  • Reacting to issues and planning long and short term change. 
  • Being able to produce accurate statistical data for workflow planning
  • Deputise for the Radiology Systems Manager in their absence. 
  • Planning, participation and testing of system upgrades
  • Teaching and training

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

A few examples from job description are:

  • Assist the radiology Systems Manager with major Systems developments across the Trust, including software upgrades, and planned replacement programme for individual components.
  • Responsible for the administration and integrity checks of radiology informatics systems across the Trusts including PACS, RIS, IEP, Order Comms, ICE, SyngoVia
  • Add and modify the configuration of any of the above systems for the benefit of the Trust (i.e. adding new locations, business units) in accordance with the requirements of the Trust.
  • Interrogating the CRIS statistical package to provide timely and accurate statistical data.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • IT related degree or able to demonstrate equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • IT qualification e.g. ITIL or evidence of CPD

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience working with patient database systems
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and managing own workload
  • Excellent attention to detail, mutitasks and manage frequent interruptions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including professional telephone manner
  • Understand the security and IG issues surrounding clinical systems
  • Ability to identify errors and omissions from complex reports and know if they are IT or user related
  • Ability to progress issues via the appropriate route
  • Monitoring data quality and resolving problems
  • Enthusiastic, willing to learn and positive approach to change
  • Experience in staff teaching/training
  • Ability to demonstrate good working relations with staff of all grades/professional groups
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Flexible approach to duties and a reliable attitude to work activities
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of RIS and PACS
  • Knowledge of Radiology Workflow
  • Experience of producing statistical information using statistical packages

Physical and mental Requirements

Essential criteria
  • May need to sit for long periods of time with high levels of concentration
  • Working with frequent interruptions
  • Good keyboard skills
  • High level VDU user
