Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the 'SHINE' Sexual Health Integrated Service within Bolton Foundation NHS Trust for a innovative, committed, experienced nurse with leadership qualities to manage the nursing service based at Crompton Health Centre, Bolton.  The successful candidate will have relevant experience within this field and be passionate about leading the service into the future by means of demonstrating compassionate care for both service users and staff, whilst maintaining the clinical governance agenda in striving to continuously improve service delivery, encouraging service user feedback and embedding into practice where appropriate.

Main duties of the job

§   The post holder will be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive nursing service for patients attending integrated sexual health services, supporting the Matron and Operational Business Manager.

 The post holder will provide a service for patients with sexual, reproductive health and HIV who require counselling, treatment and management as per protocols and guidelines.

The post holder will lead on the day-to-day clinical management of staff, patients and departments.

 The post holder role encompasses four main areas:

§  Clinical practice

§  Management/Service development

§  Education/Training

§  Research/Audi

The Trust also has a tertiary level Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, enabling 1 in 4 women across Greater Manchester to receive in-utero transfer and birth at extreme premature gestation at Bolton.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Registered Nurse or Midwife
  • • Degree in Health Studies or working towards a degree
Desirable criteria
  • Recognised sexual health qualification or working towards
  • Leadership/management qualification or working towards
  • Non medical prescribing qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of NHS sexual health nursing
  • Delivering services in line with Equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Experience in management/leadership of staff and multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of mentoring students, junior staff and peers
  • Developing and working with Patient Group Directives
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of planning and delivery of sexual health outreach services

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills including IT, written and verbal
  • Good knowledge around safeguarding for children and adults.
  • Change management skills
  • Specialist clinical skills within the field of sexual health
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of Cervical Cytology
  • Evidence of teaching ability

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • • Evidence of up to date theoretical knowledge
  • • Demonstrate expert knowledge within chosen field
