At East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust our vision is to be widely recognised for providing safe, personal and effective care. We employ over 9,500 staff, many of whom are internationally renowned and have won awards for their work.
One LSC is a new collaborative partnership shared service formed by the five NHS Trusts serving the Lancashire and South Cumbria population of 1.8 million people. We are a shared service run by the NHS, for the NHS and are hosted by East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust on behalf of the partner Trusts of the Lancashire and South Cumbria system.
One LSC stands for ‘One Lancashire and South Cumbria’ and reflects the Lancashire and South Cumbria System ambition to have one team serving Lancashire and South Cumbria in a joined-up way. It is jointly run by the five Trusts as a collaborative partnership.

One LSC brings together the Digital, Data and Technology, Estates and Facilities, Finance, People Services and Procurement and Logistics services from each of the provider Trusts to create one central community of professionals. Under one leadership team, they will provide services for and on behalf of all Trusts.
The aim is to bring services more closely together so that we can deliver the best service possible to each of our partner organisations. At the core of One LSC delivery is eliminating duplication, removing unwarranted variation, realisation of the benefits of sharing common systems and processes and ensuring we deliver value for money for our partners, our system and, ultimately, for the communities we serve.

Logistics Services Assistant
Site - Burnley General Teaching Hospital
Grade - Band 2
Hours – 25 Hours - working with the post/stores team
Salary – £24,169 Pro rata

Ensure collection and delivery of goods, food, waste including clinical waste throughout the Trust is removed and disposed of following strict policy and standard operating practices over the 24/7 period Our team is responsible for replacing medical gas cylinders removing the empty ones in various areas of the Trust and ensuring safe transportation and storage procedures are followed We have daily Pharmacy, Pathology and various other stock/top up and collection runs to perform during the course of the working day, which may include handling blood and other sample products in sealed containers There may be a requirement to support the offsite Logistics teams in delivering and collecting from GP’s and clinics in the local area. To aid this it is essential that you hold a current UK driving licence and would be advantageous if you had a driver Certificate of Professional Competence, and category C1 If successful at the shortlist stage you will be required as part of the interview process to take part in a practical assessment, short reading and writing test to assess your ability to read and retain information given to you The successful candidate will also need to undertake a driving assessment. You should also note that any offer of employment will be subject to the Trust terms and conditions along with the satisfactory completion of a driving assessment and you must complete a satisfactory driving assessment each year to retain your employment in this role

We are a busy team who expect everyone to pull together, and to follow schedules and standard operating policies and procedures when performing duties. Training will be given on all the different roles that you will be required to undertake throughout your working day. The Trust have an array of Holistic benefits such as generous annual leave policy which allows 27 days per annum pro rata rising after year 5 to 29 days and rising again after year 10 to 33 days plus 8 days Bank Holiday. We have a staff portal, staff restaurants and annual staff survey and mediation service. Please note, although this role is being advertised by East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, it will transfer to OneLSC a Corporate Collaboration hosted by East Lancashire Hospitals Trust on 1.11.24. There are no plans to change the location of the role.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, physically fit individual who is capable of moving and handling goods of varying sizes, shapes and weights and who is also capable of walking quite a few miles in a day, every day to join our busy team who work across 24/7.
The purpose of our team is to actively support all Logistical aspects of our busy Acute Teaching Hospitals and of supporting our NHS colleagues out in the community.
We are a very busy department providing logistical movements of goods, including postal service on site, across sites and around the East Lancashire area with the very occasional Patient transport duty off site. You will be based as per this advert however you may be required to work from any of the ELHT sites.

- Basic English and Maths - Ability to comply and absorb instruction in spoken and written

- Proven ability of multi deliveries or collections on a commercial or health care basis or similar basis
