Job overview

We are currently looking to employ a Band 2 Housekeeper to join our house keeping service. Experience is preferred although not essential to join our amazing team here at the Lancashire Women and New Born Centre Burnley Neonatal service. Flexibility is required with regard to shift working patterns Monday to Sunday day time, including late shifts.

Main duties of the job

To maintain a clean and tidy environment for patients, staff and visitors.  Assist in the needs of patients, visitors and staff and maintain a good working relationship within the team.  Be responsible for ordering and maintaining stock levels of equipment.  To organise and prioritse own work load.

Working for our organisation

The Neonatal Unit at LWNC has 6 intensive care cots, 8 high dependency cots and 20 special care cots with a total cot capacity of 34 cots. In addition there are 2 isolation cots. The single East Lancashire Unit is a Level 3 Neonatal Unit catering for a delivery rate of 6500 per year. Approximately 5000 deliveries (medium-high risk) occur on the hospital site. The remaining 1500 deliveries are managed in 3 Birthing Centres, 2 based in the community in Blackburn and Rossendale and a co-located Birth Centre in Burnley on the hospital site.

Supporting the nursing environment with :_

Monitoring stock levels and ordering stock items

Ensuring the nurseries are stocked with vital equipment.

Cleaning of equipment and specialist incubators

Organising the Milk room

General organising and environmental cleaning

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • Basic computer skills.
  • English GCSE Grade C/ Grade 4 or equivalent qualification
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Willing to undertake further training
  • No experience necessary but preferred
  • Interested in working with newborns and their families Ability to work within a team Good verbal and communication skills
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working in a hospital environment
